Bespoke | Print Store
An explosion of old and new, creating a shared space where both old and new clientele can relate. The conceptual model was developed from a most modern photograph from Harold Edgerton, the model represents the photograph in a literal sense, the bullet passing through the apple inspired the concept of an explosion. An explosion of old and new.
The store is situated on Dickson Street in the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village, the Piazza is shared with a gallery, restaurant and coffee shop. Dewaterkants is a well-established district area with a lot of foot traffic and will attract other business in the area that have printing needs, restaurants and photographers.
The concept is applied to the space with the use of traditional designed features and traditional photography methods. By having a dark room, you are appealing to the old clientele and with digital printing you attract a younger market, however, by having both methods you are interchangeably passing the knowledgeable on between the two generations.
The space is meant to be a balance of traditional and exciting new technology that is being invented to challenge normal boundaries of photography.
